A few thoughts on what to do if you’re thinking of postponing your wedding day

It’s been a wild ride for our couples in during the COVID pandemic, and just when we thought we were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel it’s all turn nasty again. Victoria is back in lockdown, NSW is having daily cases, borders are closed all over the place and things are just. plain. chaos.

While a huge percentage of wedding couples were holding out for the COVID clouds to lift, there’s no guarantee that that is going to happen any time soon. We’ve written a few blogs on how to alter your booking, or your day completely, so that you can still get married this year, but if you are thinking that a COVID times wedding is not for you then now is the time to act.

Firstly…Do It:

Do it. Do it now. Bite the bullet, pull the plug and settle down with your new found extended planning time and try to enjoy it. So many of this-years weddings have already been rescheduled to 2021/2022/2023 and many of the quality suppliers and venue dates that you may have wanted are all booking up super fast.

If you continue to delay the decision, there’s a huge possibility that suppliers will be booked out for 2021/2022/2023. Don’t stress if this is the case of course, you can always work around this (you can read blogs that we’ve written on awesome mid-week wedding ideas here) but just get it happening either way. It sucks, but if it’s even on your mind then it’s time to do it.

Secondly, pick a new date:

Secure your new date with your venue ASAP. That’s all you need to get the planning started on your newly improved wedding day. Once the date is locked you can make everything else slot in around it and you can start to feel good about everything again.

If you are finding it hard to pick your new date because your venue is full up, have you ever thought about a midweek wedding? There are some great discounts with venues + suppliers if you choose a midweek wedding date. Your guests will love it too, because who doesn’t love a day off work - maybe two? Plus, you newlyweds will have the full weekend to relax and enjoy with everybody. Your favourite suppliers are most likely to be free too so its a win win for everybody!!!

And Then…

At the end of the day - If its all just too much for you right now to even think about your special day we totally understand and Oberon Lane are completely flexible with all our bookings.

With the the governments ever changing rules it’s a crazy time to figure anything out and postponing doesn’t mean you’re not getting married (you will and we promise it is going to be beyond amazing). But a stressful wedding is not a fun wedding, and not the wedding you’ve dreamed of.

Covid has really hit us all in a massive way, but one shining light in all this is how amazing it is to see everyones positivity coming through. Everyone is working together to figure this out and make this process as easy as possible on couples.

Know that if you book a package with Oberon Lane we are 100% flexible with changing your dates. We will work with you to make what ever you want happen. We have your back. OB xox
