How to still have a great wedding party IN COVID TIMES!

In our last post we talked about alterations that you can make to your music booking to adhere to all the new rules and still have a great day. As an addition to that, we thought we should also talk about some ways that you can change the structure of the actual day to still have a great time and make it something really special and unique in these crazy times.

Ideas for your improvised COVID impacted wedding day:

Idea 1 - Switch to a long lunch

Having a long lunch is a beautiful way to change your day and still have a really special wedding ‘COVID’ style. As it currently stands, the only thing you really can’t do is have a big pumping dance floor, besides this, everything is is pretty much workable right now, so why not switch out the idea of the D-Floor altogether and settle in for a beautiful long lunch of champagne, celebrations and beautiful conversations.

Heaps of our couples have been opting for this and starting their ceremony around 12, with the event wrapping up around 6pm. You’ve already planned so much in the lead up so let’s get it happening at lunch time.  Everything is easier to control and you still get a beautiful celebration, plus, you and your new husband/wife get to spend your first stunning night together!

Our Oberon Lane trio package with saxophone or percussion is the perfect fit for something like this.

Idea 2 - Downsize

Instead of having that big wedding you thought you had to have, this is the perfect time to do the small intimate wedding you’ve always dreamed about. If your list of ‘must invitees’ just kept extending and extending, and ol’ Auntie Karen would never forgive you not inviting her, then this is the perfect time to downsize the whole thing!

Now is one of the only times you’ll be able to have the small, intimate guest list that you always wanted to have and get away with it. Blame COVID!  It’s out of your hands!!!! It’s a truly special time to have a nice intimate wedding that’s all about you!

Our Oberon Lane acoustic duo packages are perfect for this.

Idea 3 - Elope

Elope. Do it! Run out into the wilderness with your loved one and just get it done! How dreamy does the idea of just the two of you getting hitched alone sound hey? Drive to the top of a mountain, walk through a forrest, find a secluded beach - You can literally do this anywhere with no guests or logistics to worry about -What a magical thing to do! All you need is a celebrant, a photographer, a musician to fill the air with beautiful music and maybe your closest of close family. Do something super unique, get married, and you can always tell friends and family that you will do drinks or a bbq to celebrate down the track. Make this moment just for you!

An Oberon Lane acoustic soloist is perfect for this!

 Idea 4 - Get Fancy

If you’re set on a nice dinner party, then it’s time to make it fancy. That’s right! Fancy schmancy! Go for a black-tie formal dinner or something along those lines - Get a long menu happening, get the wine flowing, and turn your wedding into the most beautiful dinner party you could ever dream of. We’ve seen people incorporate wine-tasting menus, degustations, whiskey bars for the boys with couches and fire-pits - It might not be what you had in mind at first, but what an awesome way to spend your wedding day, surrounded by your nearest and dearest engaging in some beautiful conversation while you all look sensational!

An Oberon Lane Jazz band is a super unique thing to add to a party like this!

So there’s a few ideas to get you going.  There’s an abundance of people coming up with creative ways of getting hitched in these crazy times, but these are some of the new things we’ve seen coming through from our couples.
