Live Ceremony Music: How to guarantee a seamless walk down the aisle

Walking down the aisle is the most memorable moment of a wedding. It sets the tone for
your whole day (not to mention the rest of your lives together).

To make sure your special moment is everything you dreamed it would be, Oberon Lane
offers to play three songs of your choosing at the ceremony. We recommend you pick one
song for walking down the aisle, one for the signing of the register, and a celebratory third
song for back up the aisle.

Sometimes couples ask us to play all three of the song requests as the bridal party walk down
the aisle. E.g. One song for the flower girls, another for the bridesmaids, and one more for the
bride. Our musicians are so committed to making your day perfect that we will pull off
anything you ask of us, but over the thousands of weddings Oberon Lane has played, we can
tell you that this is not usually the best option for your wedding.

Here’s why:

1. Generally each person/group that walks down the aisle doesn’t take long enough to
get to the chorus of their song! That means you only get a glimpse of each song
before we have to change to the next one, and it doesn’t really have the emotional
impact you would want. When you’ve picked songs that mean a lot to you (or you just
like the sound of), you really want to hear the whole thing, not just the first verse.

2. You will have several seconds of dead air in between each song as the musicians
finish one and transition into the next. These moments can be awkward, difficult to
time, and detract from the main focus of the occasion, YOU!

3. If you have us play three songs down the aisle, you will have used up all your
requests and won’t have any live music for your signing of the register, or back up the
aisle. Oberon Lane will always keep you covered by playing your favourite tunes
from Spotify instead, but it’s just not the same as the heartfelt sound of live music.
Your ceremony will feel so much more special if you get to experience three of your
favourite songs performed live in their entirety.

So now you know what to expect with the structure of live music throughout your ceremony,
get on to picking those songs! Oberon Lane has plenty of suggestions if you’re at a loss and
we’re always happy to help.
